Students are planning the chapel with the theme of "Obeying Authority" with Rev. DeBoer as our speaker. We will soon be lining up 7th/8th grade volunteers for instrumental and small group vocal numbers.
ARCADE
7th and 8th-graders will be holding a cardboard arcade for the K-6 classes on Friday from 12:30-3:00. Parents are welcome to pop into the gym during that time to see the end results of the students' 2020 Engineering Design Projects.
This semester I will be teaching the students various life skills as part of art. Friday, January 31, I would like them to learn the art of making bread dough from scratch. I will show the students a variety of ways to make a basic dough, and then each of them will make their own small batch.
Please send your students to school with $2 by Wednesday that will be used to buy ingredients for stromboli, and each student can make a personalized stromboli. We'll let the dough rise throughout the morning and cook the stromboli for lunch.
I also plan to show them how simple it is to turn the dough into cinnamon rolls (among other things), and maybe we can have cinnamon rolls for an afternoon snack.
I enjoyed these first couple of days of getting to know your child in our classroom.
School board member Mr. Van Bemmel was able to create school googleaccounts for 7th and 8th graders, and students logged in for the first time today. All of their accounts end with @hprcs.com, and Mr. U, Mr. DeBoer, Mr. Van Bemmel and I have record of their user names and passwords. Students are able to access their accounts at home for homework, or at school for classwork. Mr. DeBoer and I will use the accounts throughout the year for online word processing, slides, submitting assignments, and more.
As in other years, I cautioned students to use this technology in ways that enrich their lives and glorify God. Feel free to get a copy of their user name and password from them for your records.
